DBT Skills Group for Teens
Hosted by Mari Lallier, LPCC
DBT stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Marsha Linehan created this evidence-based treatment for herself and addressed the needs of clients who have trouble with impulsivity, intense mood fluctuations, interpersonal communication skills, being mindful, and tolerating distress. It is a skill-based group focusing on 4 different modules such as Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Relationship Skills, and Emotion Regulation. This group will focus on learning skills for everyday life to build a life worth living.
The module being offered is the Mindfulness Module, which will focus on building skills to mindfully and actively engage in your life. Skills focus on finding a balance between what we feel to be true, what we think to be true, and what we know to be true. With mindfulness skills, you will learn to cope with common symptoms such as avoidance in decision making, common thinking errors, impulsivity, judgmental thinking, racing thoughts and feelings, and getting stuck “going through the motions” of life.
